| Valeno Grill recently opened in West Brighton in the spot formerly known as Shanahan's, which, prior to that, was known as Forest Gardens. "We're young and we have some learning to do but we're a great team," said co-owner Victor Urkonis. "Urkonis that's Lithuanian," he explained. And as for the name "Valeno," that's a combination of the names Vincent, Anthony, Leslie, Erica, Nicole and Oscar. Valeno Grill offers Italian food with its own spin. For instance, an appetizer display is available from which the waiter assembles a platter for two. Brick oven pizza prices range from $9-13. Steaks and a single-cut pork chop come with a choice of au poivre, pizziaola and other sauces. Urkonis, his business partner Peter Bove and general manager (and cousin) Michael Urkanis are thrilled about the venture. "We're planning for entertainment-quiet stuff," Urkonis said. "We have Jimmy Mack lined up Sunday afternoons starting April 29." The patio will soon be open for outdoor dining |
